Hello again, and let me say it's good to be back! I'm feeling refreshed, renewed and energized from after a much-needed hiatus from art. If you don't know, aside from being an artist, I'm also a yoga freak. I practice like crazy because frankly, it feels amazing and it does wonders to leave me a lot less mentally SCATTERED. And it's not surprise that yoga has crept into my art. It was inevitable!
This piece isn't a sequential...and for that matter, the 8 limbs of yoga are not necessarily meant to be practiced sequentially either. Most people in fact start with the physical practice of asana (known as Hatha Yoga). Once they realize how amazing it feels, and all the benefits to mind and body, sometimes people want to dig a little deeper and add meditation to their routine. Some people go further and add breathing techniques known as pranaymana. And on and on!
I drew this piece on Bristol Vellum, and used Micron fine liners to ink, with Copics for color. I scanned the original at 300 dpi, then cleaned it up in Photoshop. Below is the original quick sketch which I jotted down on a piece of newsprint. I used to use cheap printer paper to scribble down ideas, but I like the feel and look of newsprint, so I bought 9x12 pad and now use that for my rough sketches.
