Finished! I added washes of color over the blue, and used an HB pencil and some colored pencil for linework/detail, and to give it some atmosphere. I loved working quickly at this size! I finished in less than 6 hours. Hope you like!
Step 4. The piece starts to come alive with a blue underpainting. As you can see, I'm working small (5"x5"), due to time constraints. It's not done yet- more to come!

Step 3. I traced over the previous sketch using my lightbox. Since I'll be painting this one, I'm using Aquerelle ColdPress Watercolor paper. When I trace, I draw very lightly, so the sketch is hard to see.

Step 2. This is the next step of the sketch. I traced over the first sketch, and then tightened up the sketch, adding some fun details.

This is a work in progress for this weeks IF prompt, "Racing". I'm going to show my process here so you can see how I work. This idea just instantly popped into my mind, so I grabbed a pencil and some cheap printer paper and scribbled it down quickly, no thinking, no judging, just pure and happy scribbling. I think it's completely amazing when that happens, when you just experience a vision of your painting or sketch before you've even really thought about it. It's amazing because you've connected with something greater than you, and something, an energy, is working with you and through you. Let's call it Universe. The Universe is by its very essence, a creative entity. And it wants nothing more to create through you, because YOU are connected to the Universe (or God, or Cosmos, or however you'd like to call it). Ok, you get what I'm saying so just come back in a day or two to see the evolution of this IF sketch (and you can bet that monster is smiling under there, happy as can be under the bed, where he can watch out for his friend, even if he might startle her a little at first).
Hey, and also you guys, go ahead and share your IF link for Racing here in the comment box. That way, I can check it out easily and comment back:) Plus, I get to see all the creative goodness!
